Project Description

Cabinet Office

Transparency Navigator Webspace

Background
The Government (2010) believes that they need to throw open the doors of public bodies and enable the public to hold politicians and the public sector to account. Public bodies will be required to publish salaries and expenses of senior officials as well as disclosure of all central government spending and contracts over £25,000.

Objective
Develop a web space within the data.gov.uk website which provides public access to data submitted by Government and the public sector in simple steps.

Solution
The Transparency Navigator provides access to Government and public sector spending through a range of report tools which include dynamic matrix tables, active graphs, info-graphics, organograms and performance measuring tools. These tools enable inspection of public sector spending ranging from particular contracts to department and local authority budgets.
